Are your scouts ready to organize and measure the best of their energies and skills, and to accept another challenge in scouting that they intend to win? If so, mark your calendar for our annual Dover Dam Weekend May 5-7, and join us for a weekend of serious fun, while earning Space Exploration Merit Badge at Ohio’s most historic camp.
May 5-7, 2023
Highlights will include rocket launches by all scouts using the rockets they build. Scouts will learn about space missions past, present, and future, gaining a better understanding of how science, ingenuity, perseverance, and a commitment to “working the problem” can lead to results once thought impossible.
Full details and agenda will be posted soon on this page, including a general list of workshops for the weekend. It will also include work that scouts can, and for some requirements, must do individually or with others in their troop in the weeks leading up to Dover Dam Weekend. (For example, scouts can start working on Req. 2 )
Because of the time involved in the rocket launches, scout youth participation will be capped at 200. Program registration is now open and will likely fill up quickly! The registration form is posted below
And since this is Dover Dam Weekend, you will also have the opportunity to visit Dover Dam, and depending upon their status, the chance to go inside the dam! Throw in a commemorative patch, a great dinner and an old-fashioned campfire program and it makes for one awesome weekend.
The cost is $30 per person, adult or scout, which covers all program activities, plus a commemorative patch, a great dinner and conditions permitting, both the review session and the campfire, but does not include the rockets, with that cost to be finalized by the time the details are posted.
Pre-registration is required for both camping and the program!
