Dover Dam Day
Featuring Law Merit Badge
In 1961, May 1 was declared Law Day, U.S.A. “(This) is a special day of celebration by the people of the USA…in appreciation of their liberties and the reaffirmation of their loyalty to the USA and of their rededication to the ideals of equality and justice under law in their relations with each other and with other countries; and, (2) for the cultivation of the respect for law that is so vital to the democratic way of life.”
The American Bar Association’s 2021 Law Day theme is Advancing the Rule of Law Now. “The rule of law is the bedrock of American rights and liberties – in times of calm and unrest alike. (This)…reminds all of us that we the people share the responsibility to promote the rule of law, defend liberty, and pursue justice.”

Camp Tuscazoar will celebrate Law Day with Law Merit Badge at Dover Dam Day on May 1. Stations, either self-serve or taught by lawyers, judges, and law enforcement, will focus on law, and honor the rule of law and its underlying principles.
For scouts with Law Merit Badge seeking alternate activities, consider the Centennial Trail, which is really a 100-control orienteering score course, or the portion of it that will be designated as a cross-country course for Orienteering Merit Badge. And don’t forget the Zoar Valley Trail, with two ten-mile legs and a patch.
