CAMP TUSCAZOAR RECEIVES GRANT FROM STARK COMMUNITY FOUNDATION TO REPLACE LODGE ROOF

For Immediate Release – June 23, 2015

ZOARVILLE, Ohio – The Stark Community Foundation has awarded a charitable grant for $27,450 to the Camp Tuscazoar Foundation to help fund a new roof for the camp’s Hoover Lodge.  The Camp Tuscazoar Foundation intends to replace the lodge’s barrel-style roof with a steel roof, reducing annual maintenance costs.

The total project cost is estimated at $54,900.  The Stark Community Foundation will forward the grant if the Camp Tuscazoar Foundation raises the remaining $27,450 by November 2, 2015.

“We are extremely grateful to the Stark Community Foundation for this generous contribution,” said Bob Spencer, president of the Camp Tuscazoar Foundation.  “We look forward to making much-needed improvements to one of Camp Tuscazoar’s most popular camping facilities.  Now, we need to begin an intense fund-raising effort to acquire the matching funds for this project.”

Originally designed as a training center, Hoover Lodge was dedicated in 1949. The building’s name honors Frank G. Hoover, a North Canton industrialist who donated the funds for the lodge and made lasting contributions to Camp Tuscazoar and area Boy Scouting.  The lodge can accommodate more campers than any other facility at Camp Tuscazoar.

Those wanting to contribute to this project can contact the camp via email at info@tuscazoar.org or call Camp Tuscazoar Foundation Treasurer Nancy Schoenbaum at 330-493-1386.
