Take a ride on the wild side!
Featuring Cycling Merit Badge
September 11-13, 2015
Includes a Pig Roast dinner with:
- Roast pork/chicken
- Green beans
- Baked potatoes
- Rolls and butter
Good food! Good fun! The annual Pig
at Tuscazoar will offer plenty of both.
In conjunction with our new partners,
The Dirt Line, we will be offering
several parts of the
Cycling Merit Badge. You will notice, when reading the requirements,
that the merit badge requires several rides over several months. We will be
offering one of the rides during the Pig Gig weekend with several of the
additional rides being offered later in 2015 and in the spring of 2016. The
dates are posted below. We hope that many Scouts will take this opportunity to
bring their bikes to camp and begin to use the new trails that have been
constructed at the camp. For Scouts not interested in this merit badge, we
will be offer an “Amazing Race” event that can be
completed by visiting many areas of the camp and finding clues to finish the course.
We are currently in the process of developing a master trails plan that will bring more trails to the camp and provide an exciting destination for youth cycling for years to come. Pig Gig attendees can learn more about this plan. Also, be sure to visit the biking displays by Appalachian Outfitters and Ernie's Bike Shop from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday.
