Gold Rush Competition - 2014

January 24-26, 2014

Gold Rush Biohazard
In a world run amuck, the rules haven't changed, but the way we handle them might have to!  During the 2013 Gold Rush an item was brought to camp that just may have brought the Apocalypse to Tuscazoar.  The only way to prepare for something like this is to "Be Prepared"!

The Gold Rush will include:

  • Trail-side stations requiring outdoor skills
  • Saturday night auction
  • Saturday breakfast and supper
  • Sunday breakfast
  • Friday cracker-barrel for adult leaders and SPLs
  • Saturday lunch for leaders
  • Free tent camping
  • Unique patch

The 2014 Gold Rush at Camp Tuscazoar will once again require the use of: SKILL + ENDURANCE + STRATEGY & LUCK to determine an overall winner for the competition.

2014 Gold Rush Patch

Those familiar with previous events can expect the same type of competition. The winner is not who finishes first, but rather who finishes with the fastest time. Nuggets are worth time, so the more nuggets you earn, the more your final time is reduced. Also, competitors will cook chili on the trail for lunch on Saturday.

HINT: A wealth of outdoor knowledge will certainly assist you in obtaining a good time for your scorecard. Keep in mind that having the skill to work together might help you along just as well.

Thanks to Brian Quinn, program director, for planning the event again this year.

Due to limited parking at camp, please plan to car pool if possible.

Friday night registration and check-in at the museum until 9:30 p.m. Registration begins at 8 a.m. Saturday. Competition begins at 9 a.m. and is open to any group that wants to join in.

Cost is $20 per participant. Tent sites are free for the weekend.  Cabin fees are additional.

Make your reservations with Ranger Dana at 330-859-2288 ASAP
